Substations
Substations are an important component of electrical distribution systems. They serve as a link
between the high-voltage transmission network and the lower-voltage distribution system, allowing
for the efficient and safe transfer of electrical power. MPC have experience in the civil installation of
20kV, 38kV, 110kV, and 220 kV, substation builds for Wind, Solar and battery storage facilities
meeting a range of different specifications and design requirements.
Grid Connection
Underground cables are becoming the preferred method of connecting electrical infrastructure to
enable energy transmission. This approach is beneficial from an aesthetic and environmental
perspective, reducing impact on landscapes and habitats in terms of installation as well as the
permanent structures left behind. Since MPC’s inception, we have completed over 200km of
underground grid connection with major expertise in urban areas.
Battery Storage
The recent focus on developing renewable energy sources and infrastructure has called for the
increase in battery storage facilities to integrate these intermittent energy sources into the national
grid more efficiently. Thus, contributing to improved grid stability. MPC has delivered in a number of
BESS projects, one of which was the first commercial BESS facility in Ireland. Current project across
Ireland and the UK.
